Joseph Newman

Born in 1890 in New York, Joseph attened Pratt Institute. He was often known for painting in oil and watercolors. His subjects included modern townscapes, figures, and interiors. His subjects included: cityscape/city views, figure, interior view, marine, New York City view, and townscape.

Various assocations included: American Watercolor Society, New York Watercolor Society, the Rockport Art Association, andSalons of America. He was also a member of the Society of Independent Artists and a Salmagundi Club Member.

His work was selected for exhibitions at: Rockport Art Association, the Salmagundi Club, Salons of America, Society of Independent Artists, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

He died in 1979 in New York.
